There are a number of ways in which you can get involved in the work of South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner. South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner currently runs two Independent Advisory Groups with hard to reach groups (Black Minority Ethnic and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender). The role ensures the policies, procedures and practices of the Force meet the strategic aims of the Equality Diversity and Human Rights (EDHR) strategy and provide a safeguard against the service disadvantaging any section of the community through lack of understanding, ignorance or mistaken beliefs.
South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner runs an Independent Custody Visiting Scheme where members of the public visit police stations unannounced to check that people being held in custody are being treated properly.
The Commissioner is very active both out in the communities and online through the use of Social Media. Find out where you can meet him in your area here.
