PCC to recruit an Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner

Dr Alan Billings the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner is recruiting for an assistant to support and help him in his busy role.

The assistant will be required to take a strategic lead on specific areas seen by the Police and Crime Commissioner as being critical to the delivery of his Police and Crime Plan objectives.  In conjunction with Dr Billings they will work co-operatively with a wide range of stakeholders in the community to help identify blockages or identify opportunities to improve the delivery of programmes that secure improved outcomes for local people.

Dr Billings said: “I have been in post for 19-months and am now starting my new term of office.  What has become increasingly apparent to me is that there are many people in communities across South Yorkshire wanting to speak with me and pass on areas of concern within their communities.

“As much as I would like to engage with all of these people, it is sadly just not possible.  That is why I am recruiting for an assistant who will visit these communities and feed back to both myself and representatives in my office, what the issues are and look to ways of working with South Yorkshire Police to resolve them.

“The successful candidate will need to have an excellent understanding of South Yorkshire and its communities and significant experience of managing public engagement and partnership working.  This will be a challenging role, but one I am sure will benefit the people in South Yorkshire.

The Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner will attend public meetings, partnership meetings and speak on behalf of Dr Billings when required.  They will focus their time on public engagement and work closely with vulnerable people; especially with victims, or those at risk of domestic abuse.

The Assistant PCC will be required to work 26 hours per week and the position attracts a salary of between £29,500 and £31,500 per annum depending on experience.

Applications are now closed for this position.
